Genossenschaft Migros Ostschweiz, Herblinger Markt, Schaffhausen, Switzerland

From January 2020 until spring of 2021, Genossenschaft Migros Ostschweiz will be modernizing the Herblinger Markt shopping center in the Swiss town of Schaffhausen while continuing regular business operations.

The objective of the planned modernization is to make the shopping center more user-friendly and therefore appealing to visitors. The signage in the interior and outdoor areas will be modified accordingly and the appearance of the building will be changed to reflect the vernacular architecture of the region.

The refurbishment will be carried out with the focus on sustainability. All the building services equipment will be updated. Optimized insulation of the façade and roof, in addition to LED spotlight and tube lighting, state-of-the-art cooling furniture, and use of the waste heat from commercial cooling systems in the heating circuit, will ensure that the location can be operated in a more resource-conserving way. Where possible, eco-friendly building materials will be used.

Drees & Sommer is supporting this ambitious project using lean construction management (LCM®) to ensure the smooth running of construction processes and to guarantee transparency for all stakeholders, while improving communication and making planning and execution processes as effective as possible. The use of LCM® will also enable the standardization of Migros’ processes so that they can be reused for similar projects with minimal alteration.

Added Value

The use of LCM® will enable:
